The catenary wire video system monitors the interaction between the pantograph and the catenary wire. Monitoring the pantograph/wire interaction together with catenary wire measurements provides useful information about the state of the catenary wire installation.
The catenary video system consists of two high resolution cameras, one in front and one behind the pantograph, and an illumination system, mounted on the roof of the track recording vehicle. Only the images of the camera looking into the driving direction are recorded. Images are recorded in selectable intervals, i.e. 2m.
