Off-line video processing

Plasser & Theurer video inspection systems record all track geometry, rail and catenary wire data into one geometry data file.

The video data, due to their size, are recorded in their own video data files on the respective video computers. The geometry data file however contains the information necessary to easily find the video image in the video data files, corresponding to the track location where track geometry, rail and catenary wire data were recorded. This feature allows completely synchronized playbacks of track geometry, rail, catenary wire and video data.

Synchronized playbacks allow visualization of analyzed track geometry, rail and catenary wire data, i.e. to verify if a track geometry defect is caused by missing fasteners or if rail profile wear is caused by a battered or loose joint. Video images can further assist in finding the exact locations of defects.
