Following a customer request to increase the machine output even further and to also achieve greater excavating depths, Plasser & Theurer developed and built the RM 1500: a 3-screen machine with two excavating chains. It not only meets the requirements of greater excavating depth and higher output, but also allows larger volumes of material to be taken from the ballast bed, reducing the new ballast requirement even further. The machine has been successfully operated in Germany.
